Using SiRNA technology, TLR4, CD14 and MyD88-siRNA, it was found that down-regulation of TLR4 and MyD88, but not CD14, could significantly inhibit LPS-induced apoptosis. IL-1 receptor antagonist and TAPI-2 could effectively inhibit LPS-induced apoptosis, but not NF-kappaB-siRNA, suggesting that an alternative pathway of the LPS signal transduction pathway was involved in LPS-induced apoptosis of fish hepatocytes.
